Inaugural Retirement trip – Part 8 – The Set-up and dipping our toes in the Fiesta water
So many things, including RV trips, local adventures, and normal life back at home, have kept me from finishing this series with the final tale of the whole reason for our trip: Our visit to San Antonio and the place that our adventures as a couple began 20 years ago!
If you’ve been following along, in the last post, we were camping in our new RV near Hot Springs, Arkansas, and enjoying some relaxation and some riding. The day before we were to leave, I spent all day capturing two wonderful days of riding in a loooonnnggg blog post on my WP tablet app. I thought this was ok since the WP app had started working again, despite the problems I whined about shared here during our Texas trip in April. Well, WRONG! As I shared with my Facebook friends with dismay that evening:
We leave the Ozarks early tomorrow morning, so I will leave you with a parting shot of the post-storm mist over Lake Catherine. And the sad tale of spending all day writing my last post about riding here and visiting Mount Magazine, Petit Jean and Mount Nebo State parks. Only to have the WordPress app eat my hours of work. Gone; disappeared into thin air. Wah, wah, get over it!
So we bought the RV, as described in the last post here. What do we do next? Hit the road, of course! A few days ago, we headed west for the Ozarks. In keeping with our idea of slow travel, we planned to drive halfway there, spending the first night in Tupelo, Mississippi.

We did it; we are the proud owners of an RV!
But before we go there a little background. Those of you who have followed curvyroads for any length of time know that we have dreamed about, thought about, talked about, researched and obsessed over RVs and choosing an RV for a long, long time.

Ok, taking my time to publish the ‘rest of this story’ is an understatement…that said, we have now completed our RV test rental, with great success, but I will have to save that bit of news for a future post. *evil grin*

Inaugural Retirement trip – Part 5
This trip is turning out, like most for me, to be a long process of sharing our experiences, after our return home, and then taking off again on our test RV rental. But as my dear husband said last night, “no one is holding their breath, so take your time.” 😀 Nothing like a reality check from those who love you the most! So, I am completing this post in my camp chair, with an incredible view of Tennessee’s Douglas Lake, with the Smoky Mountains in the backdrop. Life is good!

We had a relaxed morning after the races, and left Austin headed south for some serious 5th-wheel toy hauler shopping at Explore USA in Kyle. We looked at the Cyclone and Voltage models, and found a couple we liked quite a bit, but we weren’t completely convinced. You do give up precious living space for that hallowed garage.
